Weekly Recap #2 & 2 of My Motivators!

This week I’ve been fighting a cold, but I haven’t let it push my nutrition off track.  Trader Joe’s is my favorite place to shop and this trip is full of goodness!    IMG_8336.jpeg

The kids were sick last week and I got it this week.  So I took some extra rest time (which is fine for my training right now)!  Plus, I always make sure to have my superfood and vitamin-packed Shakeology every day!  I know this keeps me to feel the best possible.  IMG_2117.jpeg

As much as I want to start marathon training (for Boston!) I know it’s too early.  I don’t want to peak too soon!  Instead, I have been adding in more speed and plan to run a 5k on Thanksgiving day!

Motivation is not one of the things I lack!  As a mom, I know that running is my “me time” and I don’t want to waste it!  I am motivated by so many things every day.  These two things happened this week and were especially motivating to me:

My 2 big kids at tumbling class doing things for the first time… IMG_6191.JPG

And watching my sister in her college swim meet where she PR’d in 3 events… IMG_6192.JPG

Monday: Sick Day 😦

Tuesday: Speed Workout at the track- 1 mile warm-up, 1 mile repeats X 3, 1 mile cool-down.  My fast mile splits were 6:05, 6:16, & 6:23.IMG_3853.jpeg

Wednesday: Hammer & Chisel DVD- ISO Strength Chisel

Thursday: Rest Day

Friday: Tempo Run- 7 miles at 8:16 average pace.  Just before the rain…IMG_9966.jpeg

Saturday: Hammer & Chisel DVD- Hammer Power and 5 miles with pick-ups at 8:36 average pace.

Sunday: Fast Run- 5 miles at 7:29 average pace with negative splits.  I tried to stay out of breath for a lot of the time.  I know that when I am racing, I am always out of breath so it’s good practice!

Healthier Pumpkin Bread

It may not look or feel like Fall yet… (My hair was crazy after this run!  It is WAY too humid!)IMG_3836.jpeg

but that doesn’t mean we can’t pretend!  After a hot run PIYO and air conditioning sound perfect!  IMG_1587.jpeg

Plus, there is nothing better than pumpkin flavored foods to get in the mood for Fall.  So my littlest guy helped me with these!  IMG_3180.JPG

I have been making mini muffins for the kids and bread for Nate and I!  Same recipe.. I just take the muffins out of the oven 10-15 minutes sooner.  IMG_3154.JPG

Back to it!

We are officially back to school and back to a routine.  IMG_2938.jpeg

We love summer but I think we were all ready for our routines to start.  Now, if it would just cool down 10-15 degrees then I would REALLY love these runs!  IMG_3120.jpeg

I am excited for more of these stroller runs (I can tell I am stronger than ever before… this stroller used to be too much… and now I’m pushing my chunkiest babe 😉 and feeling great)!  I’m also ready to follow the entire program calendar for a workout program!  IMG_2670-1 (1).jpg

I am working on building a strong base before I really start marathon training.  It is so easy to go down to my garage (with the kids or without) and do a 20-40 minute workout!  It is crazy because I used to waste time and money driving to an exercise class a few times a week.  If only I knew sooner that I CAN workout at home and LOVE it!  It also helps that I have an app on my phone that connects me to an entire group of people doing the exact same thing!  We share motivation, support, workouts, and recipes!  It is really easy and fun…IMG_2864.jpg

21 Day Fix and Running- Halfway point

Ok, so after finishing my marathon in April I am running less miles and focusing more on cross training.IMG_6868.JPG

I just don’t feel like running a ton of miles but I still want to workout (obviously 😉 )  This is where the 21 Day Fix fits in perfectly.  It is tough but still doable and I don’t get into a workout rut!  I thought doing these workouts would be perfect because I started LOVING Beachbody after doing the 21 Day Fix Extreme (AND had awesome results).  There are SO many great moves… which makes it perfect for cross training!  Like running in place while holding a weight… HARD!  Haha, but I love my little trampoline creeper 😉  IMG_7092.jpeg

The double workouts (most days) have been wiping me out… but I feel good/stronger!  Little Jayce and I may fuel differently… IMG_4674.jpeg

but we both finish our favorites as fast as we can… HAHA!  IMG_8628.jpeg

And then we rest together!  Ummmm…. Perfect!IMG_4973.jpeg

Hammer and Chisel- Week 6

One of the best things about Hammer and Chisel DVDs is that I can do them from home!  I don’t have to worry about the weather or the kids!  Sometimes they even join in!  IMG_4885.jpeg

The running plan had to change a couple of times because of the weather.  The roads were covered with snow and icy!  IMG_4041.jpeg

It was also very cold at times… but I got a good amount in.  I will be looking to pick up my miles next week.IMG_3485.jpeg

Week 6.png

I am planned and ready for this week too!  I am very excited about getting Cafe Latte Shakeology in the mail this week!  Shakeology has been a lifesaver for me… it helps me recover and get ready for my next workout.  Plus, it gives me energy and is my healthiest meal of the day!  Week 7.png

If you would like a little more info on my next group or Shakeology… fill out a few questions below.

Hammer and Chisel

I am beyond excited about this program!  Luckily, Nate’s birthday is 11 days after it comes out (perfect timing for the gift he really wants AND I want)!!!  You may have heard me say kid’s birthdays are really about the mom… well, aren’t husband’s birthdays really about the wife?! 😉  HAHA!  So here is everything WE get:

This program has a detailed nutrition plan but unlike the 21 Day Fix, it is made to modify whether you want to build muscle, maintain, or lose weight.

I will be posting weekly about how I’m doing with the program.  I will also continue to run (which is not necessary for the program), but how could I not run?!  I have been feeling SO great running!  I know I will be more tired/sore while doing the Hammer and Chisel workouts, but running (like all working out) makes me feel better and makes me a better mom, wife, and person!  After all, I am always trying to improve!

Here is my meal plan for week 1:  Screen Shot 2015-12-05 at 9.39.58 PM.pngThese are all favorite foods of mine plus a few new recipes I got from the Hammer and Chisel nutrition guide!  I will posting a few of these recipes soon!
